Soda Bottle Track
As rain started falling in the black sand of the fishing village on the Pacific Coast where I was on vacation, I could not stop the children despite the rain. What I noticed was a skilfully made toy track made from water and soda bottles. Each boy ran along the flow of water pulling a truck loaded with sand. Converting PET bottles to trucks was easy for childishness. Four bottle caps served as wheels. The two axles were formed from two 3.5-inch long coat hanger wires. The wire flowed through the side of the bottle, through the plastic bottle cap on each side. The end of the wire was bent to hold the bottle cap wheel. I cut a part of the opposite side of the bottle and made a cargo bay. The string was tied around the bottleneck. Stack it in cargo bay with sand, rock, marble, small figure, screw, nut, bolt etc.
Shake, rattle, roll
Empty metal, cardboard, plastic containers make big noise manufacturer makers for hats. Round containers from cereals, powders or dried, granules and some liquid products work well, especially if they have a resealable top. You can create different sound effects by partially filling in gravel, marble, clean sand, seeds, dried beans, rice and so on.
