Is a Mac or PC good for journalists? -2

Many people wonder how Macs were preferred as a creative type of computer like the publishing industry.

Most newspapers and magazines use Macintosh for editing department, production department, business division and sales department. This goes back to the era when the Mac has a user-friendly interface through a graphical interface, not a blinking cursor as an invitation to enter great code.

But today I will argue that the difference is negligible and that the PC world has adopted some of the visual computational aesthetics of Apple Computing. For example, a computer on a work PC has a dock just like a home Macbook. In both work and home, I find that they are virtually identical using Adobe's publishing software.

Some functions are better on the PC. For example, it is a mouse right click button. Others are better on the Mac. I'm trying to scroll horizontally on my work PC.

I think that navigation is somewhat easier for Windows than for Mac's Finder, as I have become accustomed to PC after making most of my life to Mac. As my MacBook grows a bit longer, it's also one of the first casualties of the slow Mac I'm learning.

Apple decided to fine-tune the selection in Photoshop and switch to an inconspicuous glossy screen when bumping graphics with precise grid lines to the required places.

Although the Macintosh has its own office program suite, Microsoft Office for Mac continues to be a major program. If you want to write articles of various publications, Office compatibility will improve.

However, regarding the disclosure, the Mac does not go anywhere. Therefore, if you are considering a publication career, you can be used to the interface without problems. For some reason Mac users tend to tend to use quick keys that are almost the same on a PC. On the PC you control the click, but on the Mac click the command. Learn some of these at first: & # 39; Opened. Wat & # 39; Close; & # 39; n & # 39; New document. Once you have eliminated the fundamentals, learn the key of the most used function. These will greatly speed up your workflow.

If you live in a city that has an Apple Store, please use the Apple Store. You can try out the interface, or you can sign up for the tutorial. Most community colleges also provide an introduction to the Mac user interface.

At first it may be a little frustrating to learn a new interface, but fluency on both platforms is only useful if you want to break into creative areas.
