In 2005, Shadow of the Colossus blessed PS 2 and became one of the best PS 2 games ever lost. Thirteen years later, the classics that transcended this age were reintroduced with a new paint coat for the current generation of players.
So, how do you keep it down?
This review will detail every aspect of this game, including graphics, gameplay, stories and overall experience. However, in order to understand the essence of what we see here, we need to look at another aspect of this game, the heritage.
In classical video games that transcend time, little games are affected by the shadow of the colossus. I remember when I first started SOTC in PS 2 in 2005. I went completely blindly without knowing anything about this game. On that day the review and spoiler are not back. After the first roadblock trying to understand the mechanism of climbing, there was a reverence that at that time it could provide only a few games.
Twelve years earlier, the second giant was released. I knew this was a rare masterpiece that needed to be loved. And I was not the only person to share this feeling. Most of the people who played this game had a soft place at least twelve times, regardless of whether I finished it or at least as in my case.
However, the game has been ongoing since 2005. And the genre diversity and the evolutionary mechanism that we experienced in the two console generations since PS2 are amazing. So, PS4 version holds this game today.
Story
The main story of SOTC can be written in several sentences. Man tries to save the beloved things. People have the opportunity to do so by killing 16 giants. Human does it. And it is over. But this simple story has much more complexity. I can not fall in love with every character. Agro, from your trustworthy horse, wanderers, hero, and each of the 16 gigantic colossus. All of these lead to an emotional intestinal punch every time you kill these colossus. And it does not mention the ending which is not only beautiful, but both absolute sorrows.
Graphics
Part of the attraction of SOTCs lies in how simple everything is, with all the fundamental complexity born in the minds of players. Though things may be attributed to PS2's limitation that it is kept very simple, the Bluepoint game has provided its simplicity with spade with PS4's graphic fidelity. This game is now the most visible game for PS4. All the landscape of this game has been renewed, from the scenery to the giant statue that rises from itself. And the result is amazing. Amazing attention is paid to the detail to every corner of this game. And these visuals play an important role in the overall experience of this remake.
Gameplay
For SOTC's central gameplay, we will overcome the landscape of the cursed land behind the horse and look for the next Colossai. You need to figure out where you are going with the help of your sword reflecting the beam of light towards the direction of the target. Once you find Colossi, each one needs a different strategy and plan, so you need to understand how to drop them. This keeps the game fresh until the end. It is your weapon that consists of swords, bows and arrows just reminding the simple theme of the game.
In order to admire all the commands of this game, we never deny that the control is a little Jackie. Even in the era of PS2, we had a game with much better control than SOTC. Although it can not be said that this was completely remedied with remake, here are some major changes. The layout of the button is mapped to appeal to the current gamer. You can restore the original setting. In addition to this, there is also a collectible in the game and a clever Easter egg that refers to Mr. Ueda's other games.
Core games can be completed in about 10 hours, but longevity is provided by other difficulty settings and strange rewards. In the mirror mode, it reflects the game screen, and it feels amazingly fresh. Add photo mode to take a screenshot of the game using various filters and tools. To be honest, I spent hours here and all the final results are amazing.
Overall
PS2's first SOTC breathed to the players and added to the notice that the video game is indeed art. It itself transcended the times and no remasters were necessary. However, this remaster is still being made and the result is the masterpiece. The fact that PS 4 appeared in 2005 may have been the original vision of Fumito Ueda. We may never know, but as a gamer I thank the creators who make this happen. PS4 's SOTC is not a classic one that transcends the time to set new standards for remake.
