Fly Tying - How to tie Light Edson Tiger using pseudo Marabou -2

Bill Edson developed a streamer named Edson Tiger, a fly tire known from the northeastern United States. The two variations of this fly are light and dark. The next pattern is my variation of Light Edson Tiger. It is suitable for river and brown trout fishing.

This fly dressing includes:

  • Hook: Streamer 4xl or 6xl
  • Tags: Flat Silver Tinsel
  • Tail: Wood cook or barbecued wood cook
  • Body: 4 or 5 strands Peacock Hell.
  • Ribs: Very thin lines. I prefer to use green color. As an option, you can twist the grass around the wire.
  • Wing: Yellow Pseudo Marabou topped with red Pseudo Marabou with 1/3 to 1/2 the length of the yellow wing.
  • Cheek: jungle cock.
  • Head: Tapered thread.

  1. I will tie this fly to a small streamer hook. The size is 12-14 14xl or 6xl. First, if you want to use a barbless hook, it is time to bend the hook barbs. Next, fix the hook to the jaw of the vice.
  2. To join the tag, please slowly wind the thread towards the bending of the hook. Lay flat silver tinsel, wrapped 1/16 "of the notch and return it to its original position.
  3. Tie the tail at the bend just above the tag using the thread of 2 turns. The feather fiber must be the length of the hook gap. However, the length is not important, it can be long or short.
  4. The material of the body is bound to the hook you tied the tail material. At this point you have the option of twisting the peacock grass around the wire or using the wire as the only rib. Peacock grass is easy to break, in both cases it uses ribs to protect plants.
  5. Next, wrap the material over the hook and stop the eye length of about one or two hooks in front of the hook's eyes. Prepare extra grass. If you are not twisting the grass around the wire, this time, wrap the spiral on the body with a spiral helix and attach the ribs at equal spacing of the spirals. Tighten, extra trimming.
  6. Please select part of pseudo marabou. Instead of pulling and cutting the material, keep the edges nonuniform. Yellow is first tied. The length should reach the tip of the tail. Pseudo Marabou is a synthetic material and it is necessary to wrap and fix two laps around the material. Next take two laps under the pseudo marabou and the other move up like normal. You can also add some cement to the lap.
  7. Repeat the above steps with red pseudo marabou and adjust the length to 1/3 to 1/2 of yellow. You tie the same material as you did for the yellow pseudo marabou.
  8. Now connect the feathers of the shoulder jungle cock nails. These feathers are tied at a slight angle to the side of the fly. If you follow the wing angle, you will be fine. Feathers are tied in two different ways. First, leave the display of yellow, black and white, you can tie it, or you can connect with leaving only the yellow display. The original Edson Tiger was cheeked with golden metal. If you leave only the yellow indication, this is mimicked. I bind the jungle cocks and leave all the colors. When tying this fly with a fish, you do not need to buy premium jungle cock feathers. Brooke and Brown Mass are not cousins. They are opportunistic!
  9. The last step is to cement fly head and fly head.

It's all there. Tie it and fish the fish and think about your own variation. Do not be afraid to experiment.
