Softball Drill - Basics of Sliding -2

Sliding is an important move for players to hesitate to study very. Often, this hesitation is based on hurting fears. Since players can not overcome this fear until practice actually begins, you need to do as much as you can to coach as much as possible to practice as easily as possible. The next softball drill will tell you the basics of the slide so that the player will soon make this basic run as often as needed.

Sliding stance

The first thing a player should learn in a slide lesson is the basic slide stance. Players must stretch their legs straight ahead and sit on the ground and depart. Next, they need to practice by collapsing one knee to see a more natural and comfortable position.

When they take the stance they have to stretch their legs toward the base, bend the other leg with their knees, point to the back of the foot, and wake both hands in the air. As you enter the slide you want to lower your hand to fall, but lowering your hand only increases the risk of injury. They should slide down thighs and ass.

Learn to slide

Coaches can make the first attempt to start a slide easier, after rain or by practicing on a wet field with the help of hoses and sprinklers. Before slipping practice, let the player wear dirty clothes. Players should better slide wet surfaces more than hard ones. It is very useful to start practicing while sliding on wet grass.

If the coach has an adventurous feeling, he can practice with slip & slide. Place the water hose on top and moisten long plastic pieces. On hot days, players are more pleased than practicing slides with a slippery plastic surface.

Scrambled egg drill

A scrambled egg drill is the best way to fix a stance if the player learns the basic slide position but can not continue to put the hand in the air. To run this drill, the coach needs to practice with dozens of raw eggs. Have one raw egg in each hand and let the player practice practice. In order to keep the eggs from breaking, players need to keep them high in the air. To make drilling more difficult, make sure the player gets really low during the slide, or slide the slide to the base and jump to the next slide immediately.
